MY STORY


Photography was a way of life for me long before it was an occupation. I grew up in Chichester, West Sussex and always I loved looking back at photos from holidays or days out, and reliving the memories and stories that came from them.


At 16 I took a school trip to New York, taking along a camera my parents had lent me. I photographed everything I saw: taxis, traffic lights, people and places. I wanted to remember it all and preserve that feeling of being there forever. Ten years later, I still get that same feeling when I visit somewhere new, or experience something special.


Now I'm lucky enough to do what I love for a living, and help other people capture their own memories. I believe that every family has a story to tell, and it's my privilege to help you tell yours through my photography!

BIOGRAPHY


Peter was born in Chichester, West Sussex and studied photography for three years at Falmouth university in Cornwall, graduating with a First Class Honours degree.


He has experience in the editorial industry, regularly shooting for clients including The New York Times, The Guardian, The Financial Times, and The BBC, as well as many commercial clients.


Peter's work has won awards including the British Journal of Photography's Portrait of Britain (2023) and the BBC's Visual Journalist of the Year (2018). He has also been shortlisted for awards including the BPPA's Portrait Photographer of the Year (2022) and the South West Graduate Photography Prize (2019).

HOW DO I BOOK A SHOOT?

WHAT IS YOUR STYLE?


My work is described as relaxed, authentic, and nostalgic, with a luxury fine art quality. I combine documentary photography with lifestyle, editorial, and traditional portraiture to create a collection of beautiful and unique images of your family that can be treasured for a lifetime. The photos from your session complement each other to tell a story and capture a cherished moment in time for your family.

HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE?


My pricing is simple and all inclusive. You pay one price for ALL digital photos. The total cost for Family & Newborn sessions is £399. Prints and additional products are sold and priced separately. For events, I charge an hourly rate which you can see on my Session Info page, along with all other pricing information.

WHAT IS INCLUDED?


All packages include the session itself plus a minimum of 50 images as high resolution digital photos. Often you will receive even more! Additionally, you will be given a link to a private online gallery where you can view and share your images with friends and family, and order additional fine art prints and physical products. WHERE ARE YOU BASED?


I am a Sussex family photographer based between Chichester, West Sussex and Brighton, East Sussex. So wherever you are in the Sussex or Hampshire region I would love to help you capture your family!

WHAT IS YOUR TURNAROUND TIME?


Your photos will be delivered as soon as they are ready within 4 weeks of your shoot, via direct download complete with a print release.

WHEN SHOULD NEWBORN SESSIONS OCCUR?


Typically within the first month of life when babies are still very sleepy and curly, making it easier to capture those early moments. However, I understand it can be difficult to arrange a photoshoot so soon after birth. That's why I offer some flexibility in scheduling, so shoots can be booked for a bit later within the first few months. My natural and relaxed style allows me to capture beautiful images of your little one at any age!

WHERE DO SESSIONS TAKE PLACE?


Family sessions usually take place at scenic outdoor locations around Sussex. We want to pick somewhere that suits your family's personality, so we will work together to choose the perfect spot. It could be somewhere nearby that is special to you... a beach, a park, or a woodland forest. But I also have a list of locations up my sleeve if you’re struggling to decide! Newborn sessions usually take place at home for a more intimate environment. For family events the sky is the limit!

HOW LONG DO SESSIONS LAST?


Family sessions typically last 1 hour, while newborn sessions can last up to 2 hours to allow time for comforting, feeding and taking breaks. However, I understand that every family and baby is unique, and I am happy to work at a pace that is comfortable for everyone. My goal is to create a relaxed and enjoyable experience for all. So whether your little one needs some time to cuddle or snack, or even if you just want a moment to enjoy the scenery, we will take the time we need to capture beautiful images.

HOW DO YOU CHOOSE THE PHOTOS?


After your shoot, I carefully review every image to select the best ones for your final gallery. I look for images that are technically strong, with good lighting, composition, and focus, but also those that capture the unique moments and emotions of your session. From there, I individually edit the photos in my signature style, to enhance their beauty and bring out the best in every image. I always aim to tell a story through your photos, so I select a variety of shots that work together to paint a picture of your family and your time together, while giving you plenty of options.

WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?


Choosing what to wear for a photo shoot can be a daunting task, but don't worry, I'm here to help! My style is natural and relaxed, so I recommend choosing comfortable clothing that you feel good in and that represents your family's personality. Neutral colors and simple patterns are a safe bet, but if you want to add a pop of color or wear something more bold, go for it! It's always nice to coordinate your outfits without being too matchy-matchy. But above all, wear something that makes you feel confident and comfortable, that you can move and play in.

CAN WE PRINT OUR PHOTOS?


Yes! The digital images I provide are high-resolution, and beautiful archival prints can be ordered directly through your gallery.
